A close first half between Planet and Sabai Dee was a far cry from last week’s thumping victory over a weak PUDFC side. Taylor opened the scoring for the home side when a good flowing move from the back found its way to Jay who’s clever through ball found Taylor unmarked to fire home. It was soon 2-0 when Jay also found himself all alone inside the area with only the keeper to beat from five yards. Sabai Dee fought back though and after winning possession rather easily from the Planet midfield, they found the striker with lots of space to finish past Joe. Sabai Dee were now pressing high when Eoin gave away a silly free kick 20 yards out that somehow found its way past Joe in what should have been a routine catch, 2-2 and Planet had a game on their hands. The game was end to end when Eoin burst past two players to fire Planet back in front with a well taken strike. Another good move from Planet cut open the Sabai Dee back line but Taylor could only find the wood work with the ball falling kindly to Jay to tap into the empty net. With half time soon approaching a deflected long range effort from Jay fell to Taylor on the left hand side who coolly slotted the ball into the top right corner with fine finish to give Planet a 5-2 lead at the interval. Planet’s lead grew early in the second half when the Sabai Dee center back beat his own keeper with a poor clearance. Planet started to dominate the half early on and would soon be clear of any late Sabai Dee fight back with goals coming thick and fast. Alex latched onto a direct ball from Joe and turned his man before sliding under the keeper with a clinical finish for seven. Andrew playing out field fired low and hard into the bottom corner after cutting in from the right before Eoin’s close range volley found the back of the net to make it nine. Goals were coming from all angles with another couple from Jay before Andrew released what looked like a cross but flew straight into the top corner from the far right, leaving the goal keeper motionless. Sabai Dee did manage a couple of their own before the final whistle, first Planet didn’t deal with the cross into the box which found its way beyond the keeper with a simple tap in, then a long range effort after Taylor lost the ball in the middle of the pitch that seemed to travel a long way before finding the back of the net via the post. Planet’s final goal came from Jay again with curling right foot strike, played in by Alex’s clever cut back. Coach Mark say’s: The first half they made it difficult for us with their pressing game, they forced mistakes from our midfield particularly and we lost the ball too easy at times. In the end we created lots of chances and managed to find the net with some good moves and quality finishing but we need to stop conceding so easily at times and work harder off the ball. Against tougher opposition it will be difficult to create the amount of chances and score the number of goals we have been scoring lately. When you concede four goals in a game it might be a loss instead of a win at the end of the day so we need to shore that up and spend some time improving that area of our game as a team.
