Another thumping victory for the inform Planet u13 team seen newcomers Point on the back of a 14-3 loss. Although Planet kept up their good goal scoring form it was the goals that they conceded that stood out. Planet went in at half time leading by nine goals to zero after completely dominating the first period against a Point team that have been a bit hit a miss in their first season. Goals came thick and fast with Taylor opening the scoring from Eoin’s through ball. Provider turned goal scorer for the next goal with Eoin finding the net from a Dan Peebles pass. Alex got the third with a good finish from Taylor’s switched pass across the pitch before Eoin latched onto Robert’s pull back for the fourth. Taylor found the net again after cutting inside on the left and slotting into the corner before Robert finished off Eoin’s powerful run from his own box. Planet were now six goals to the good before Alex popped up with another three goals before half time, showing fantastic composure in front of goal. Leading now 9-0 Planet made a few changes but this should not have made much difference after being in so much control in the first half but the home team conceded three sloppy goals in the second period. First a tame free kick from distance eluded everyone and somehow found its way into the net with the Planet players all stood looking at each other waiting for somebody to take control, which never came. Still playing some really good flowing football when in attack Planet scored another three goals, two neat finishes from Taylor when played through on goal and Toto finding the net after some hard work down the right. Point got their second of the day after the keeper fumbled a cross from the left side and once again Planet were slow to react to the bouncing ball with the defense turning their back the Point striker made no mistake from just inside the area. Planet’s last goal of the day came from Eoin, another powerful run down the right flank from the captain before riffling into the far corner across goal. With seconds on the clock Point managed another consolation goal, their striker finding space all alone behind the Planet defense and slotting under Joe’s legs for the final goal of the game. Coach Mark says: We have played some brilliant football at times this season and once again today the players showed what quality they can produce when in possession of the ball in all areas of the pitch, from the defense to attack. The team have scored some really good goals again in this game with every player on the pitch being involved in the build up some way or another. The other side of the game though is that we conceded three very sloppy goals and against a better team it could be a lot more costly. We need to be more focused when defending set pieces and react to situations quicker,so there is a lot of improvement to be made in that area. Hopefully in the next game we can produce the same quality without the ball as we have showed in recent games when in possession. MOM = Taylor Goals = Alex x 4, Taylor x 4, Eoin x 3, Robert x 2, Toto x 1
